Keratin Treatments are a semi-permanent treatment based on antioxidant "Acai Berry" and contains Panthenol, Keratin, Complex Amino Acids as well as other natural ingredients.

Although some may call our product a "straightener", it is actually better classified as a Filler that repairs hair by infusing Keratin into the damaged sections of the hair creating silky, shiny, smooth and manageable hair.

Keratin Treatments uses the heat of the flat iron to activate the product bonding Keratin directly to the hair shaft. The result is smoother, shinier, stronger hair which can last up to three months.

Since most of the porosity in the hair is from the mid-shaft  through the ends,  the hair reverts to its natural form starting towards the roots (new growth). This process eliminates the line of demarcation as the new hair grows in and leaves a very natural look to the hair throughout the life of the treatment. Since  Keratin Treatments utilizes the porosity in the hair, the more porous the hair, the better the results.

 Q. How soon can I wash or style my hair after the Keratin Treatments?

A. You can wash or style your hair immediately after the  Keratin Treatments, or as you would normally. The BRAZILIAN SILK™ Professional Treatment has NO RULES to follow after receiving the treatment. As soon as you leave the salon, continue on with your life as normal.

Q. Who is the best candidate for the Keratin Treatments?

A.  Keratin Treatments is effective on all hair types; thick, thin, dry, chemically damaged, blondes, brunettes, straight and/or curly. This professional treatment works on the porosity in the hair to improve the health of the hair by conditioning while smoothing the cuticle to eliminate frizz and create radiant shine.

Q. Can I still receive a  Keratin Treatmentst if I have highlights and/or color?

A. Yes, the  Keratin Treatments will actually improve the health of color-treated/highlighted hair by conditioning the hair while sealing the cuticle. The more porous the hair the better the results thus you are left with enhanced color, reduced frizz and radiant shine.

Q. Is the  Keratin Treatments going to make my hair straight?

A. It depends. The  Keratin Treatmentst are not a relaxer – it’s a FILLER. Think of it as adding hair onto hair. If your hair is wavy, the  Keratin Treatments will make your hair appear naturally straight and healthy because it has added more weight by bonding keratin (the protein that makes up hair) to the hair shaft. If your hair is very curly, it will minimize frizz while enhancing the appearance of the natural wave/curl. If you have straight, frizzy hair, this treatment will eliminate frizz and promote radiant shine while leaving your hair silky smooth.

Q. How long does the  Keratin Treatments last?

A. The  Keratin Treatments will last for 10-12 weeks or more if you follow your stylist insrtuctions, The Keratin Treatment is cumulative; the more times you have it done, the healthier the hair will be and the longer the result will last.

Q. Can you apply the  Keratin Treatments directly on top of relaxers and strengtheners?

A. Yes. The  Keratin Treatments actually works best on chemically treated hair, and helps to improve the hairs condition by fortifying each strand with essential proteins and conditioners. When placed on top of over-processed hair, the  Keratin Treatmentst actually brings the hair back to life.

Q. Will my hair lose volume if I receive the Keratin Treatments

A. It depends on how close to the scalp the product is applied. If someone wants flatter hair, then YES they can lose volume. If you have fine hair, then NO your hair will not lose volume as a result of receiving the treatment. Your hair will maintain its natural volume and you will still receive great bend and memory when blow-drying and/or using a curling iron.

Q. Will my hair return to its original state after the  Keratin Treatments has completed its life cycle?

A. Yes, the hair will revert to its original state once the  Keratin Treatment has completed its life cycle; however, the condition of the hair will actually improve as a result of the fortifying and conditioning nature of the product.

Q. Can you color your hair the same day you receive a Keratin Treatment

A. Yes, however, you must color your hair prior to having the  Keratin Treatment. If you are coloring hair dark brunette or red, you will want to color the hair a shade darker than you otherwise would, as the hair color will experience fading during the  Keratin Treatment. Less experienced colorists should color the hair a week before or a week after the treatment.

Q. Can you swim in the pool or ocean after you have the Keratin Treatment?

A. Yes, you can swim in either the pool or the ocean after you receive a  Keratin Treatment, however, the treatment may be slightly compromised if you swim on a regular basis. As with any chemically treated hair, we recommend that you first wet the hair with tap water prior to getting it wet in a chlorinated pool then washing it as soon as you can after swimming.

Q. Can I receive the  Keratin Treatment if I have over-processed blonde hair? What if my hair is platinum blonde?

A. Yes but it is important for every stylist to assess the condition of the client’s hair to make sure it is in a healthy enough state to apply extreme heat through the use of a flat iron. If the hair is in questionable condition, the recommendation is to turn the flat iron down from 450 degrees to approximately 400. The stylist will have to determine the appropriate amount of heat to apply.

Q. Can you perform a Keratin Treatmentt on extensions?

A. Yes, the  Keratin Treatment performs on hair extensions. It would be best for the stylist to perform the Keratin Treatment separately on the extensions prior to putting them into the hair. If you wish to perform the treatment on extensions that are already in the hair, the stylist will need to be extremely careful when applying the heat to the bonded area. If the stylist is careful and works to first separate the hair extensions from the client’s own hair, a great result can be achieved.

Q. Can I receive a Keratin Treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

A. There have been no clinical tests performed on the safety of performing the Keratin Treatments on pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. As a result, we advise against pregnant or breastfeeding women receiving the Keratin Treatment.

Q. How much time does the Keratin Treatment take?

A. The  Keratin Treatments on average takes approximately 2 hours to complete.

Q. How often can the Keratin Treatments be done?

A. As often as necessary. Since it is a cumulative process, the more you do it the longer it lasts. Most clients do the service every 3 months.

Q. Can you do touch ups?

A. No, the Keratin Treatment is always applied from beginning to end (the entire head).

Q. Can Keratin Treatments be used on African American hair?

A. Yes,  Keratin Treatments can be used on any type hair. Smaller sections are taken and more heat is applied to more curly or resistant hair.

Q. How long do I leave the Keratin Treatments in the hair during the process?

A. There is no active ingredient in the Keratin Treatments so timing of the Treatments is not involved with the process. The Keratin Treatments uses the heat of the flat iron to activate the product.

Q. When can I cut the hair?

A. A haircut is usually preformed prior to the receiving the Keratin Treatments with the final detailing done after the treatment is completed.
